Andrew Weir

Andrew Weir is a consultant for Helix Commerce International. He has worked with with the team since 2007, while also attending university and graduate school.

At Helix, Andrew has participated in a number of Helix strategic planning projects providing analytical and research support, SWOT analysis, macro and micro economic analysis, competitive analysis, process mapping, strategic benchmarking and preparing relevant client documents to support complex engagements. Industries Andrew has worked in include: financial services, communications and high tech, government, and publishing.

Andrew has participated in a number of client workshops where he actively helped co-facilitate real time documentation support to streamline key communication products. He has also been an active leader in organizing and executing Helix’s annual innovation conferences. A primary focus area of Andrew’s expertise is on researching and analyzing innovative web trends and social media business applications. He has also worked on a number of innovation-centric project in wholesale banking. In 2008, he co-authored a book on businesses and Virtual Worlds and in 2010, he co-designed an online social media course. He is also currently co-authoring a new book on social innovation with Dr Cindy Gordon, CEO and founder of Helix.

He recently completed his MA at McMaster’s Institute on Globalization and the Human Condition, where he completed a major original research project on paid crowdsourcing. His work focused on paid crowdsourcing in relation to how people understand the social media and the role of creativity on the Web. Andrew completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Western Ontario, where he earned an honours Bachelor of Arts in Media and the Public Interest. His work focused on freedom of expression in Malaysia, with particular attention given to how new Internet tools are changing the Malaysian civil rights landscape.
